Your Substance Use Disorder Team
Amanda Richardson, PA-C, CAQ-PSY
Amanda is originally from Bedford, VA. She earned her Physician Assistant Degree from Jefferson College of Health Sciences and her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. She has obtained her Certificate of Added Qualifications in psychiatry. She will be providing psychiatric care at the Tri-Area locations. She aims to work with others towards their wellness goals. She also has a passion for helping those struggling with addiction to work towards their sobriety goals. She is currently in training to become a Functional Medicine Certified Medical Profession.
When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling. She is passionate about animal rescue and has lots of pets.
Vanessa Pinter, DO
Dr. Vanessa Pinter D.O, is a board-certified Family Physician with nearly ten years of clinical experience in comprehensive primary care, including women's health and pediatrics. Dr. Pinter grew up in Florida and completed undergrad at Florida State University. She earned a Doctor of Osteopathy from Des Moines University in Iowa, then finished her residency in Blacksburg, Virginia in 2019. Her practice style is rooted in evidence-based medicine, ensuring you receive the most current and effective care, while maintaining a holistic perspective that considers lifestyle, environment, and individual needs.
Beyond her clinical duties, she is an active volunteer in the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. She enjoys scuba diving, caving, rock climbing, and traveling.
Michael A. Cobler, LPC
Michael A. Cobler is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner in Virginia. He graduated from Carroll County High School. Michael earned his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and in English from Virginia Tech. He then obtained a Masters in Education from Virginia Tech, as well as completing additional postgraduate coursework at Radford University and Liberty University. Michael has over 30 years of outpatient clinical experience serving the people of this area through crisis intervention, biopsychosocial assessments, mental health and substance use counseling, case management, and clinical supervision/management. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Wytheville Community College for nearly 20 years.
Michael practices from a holistic counseling perspective, focusing on healing of the body, soul, and spirit. He embraces a trauma-informed, person-centered approach which incorporates elements, including a compassionate therapeutic alliance, the instillation of hope, building motivation for change, and valuing one’s personal strengths and resilience.
Michael is a lifelong resident of Carroll County. He resides with his precious wife, Kass, and their very loved and very spoiled Shih Tzu’s, Jax, Onyx, and and Boo. Michael is active in the community, primarily through his church and faith-based recovery.
Jon McNamara, LCSW
Jon McNamara, LCSW is a Behavioral Health Provider at Tri-Area Community Health with an extensive background in person-centered care and community advocacy. A graduate of Radford University’s Master of Social Work program, he specializes in treating a diverse range of clients through a strength-based, eclectic approach.
With specialized training in EMDR, Trauma Stress Studies, and the Feldenkrais Method®, Jon integrates evidence-based practices—emphasizing somatic approaches and Mindfulness—to support individuals facing complex mental health and substance use challenges. His clinical philosophy is rooted in reflexive listening and a commitment to patient dignity, informed by years of experience in both hospital and outpatient community health settings.
